The Children’s Museum of The National Folk Museum of Korea

The Children’s Museum is a hands-on experience museum run by the National Folk Museum of Korea (Learn more on http://minskseoultrip.blogspot.com.by/2013/10/blog-post_26.html). A variety of visual aids and assembly models allow children to touch and feel pieces and experience folk history in an interactive way. The theme of the exhibition consists of folk clothing, food, shelter, social life, and entertainment. The museum has a number of interactive spaces including a table set for an ancestral ritual, magnet miniatures depicting a baby’s first birthday, and an area where young visitors can build a folk house. Young learners can also create an avatar clad in Hanbok, make Kimchi using visual aids, or play Gonu (a traditional board game). The museum also collects, preserves, and maintains relics and historical items related to youth and youth culture.

50 people at a time (30 people by internet reservation / 20 onsite reservations)

Exhibition Hall Information 

Hands-on exhibits focus on recreating the experiences of children in the olden days. Visitors will get to touch everyday items including arrows, straw shoes, sleds, tops, and inkstones.

Learn the culture of clothing and dyeing skills. Create your own avatar using Korean traditional clothes.

* Holidays of Korea

Learn about Korean traditional holidays (Lunar New Year, Jeongwol Daeboreum, Danno, Chuseok, Dongji, etc.) as well as interesting stories behind each special celebration.

* Folk Games of Korea

Play Gonu with friends.

* Taste of Korea

Learn about the traditional foods, crops, and farming tools of Korea. 

* House of Korea

Assemble wooden blocks to make miniature straw-roofed and tile-roofed house. Learn about and perform Takbon (rubbed designs) on house walls.

Детский музей в Национальном этнографическом музее (Здесь есть информация о музее - http://minskseoultrip.blogspot.com.by/2013/10/blog-post_26.html) был открыт 17 февраля 2003 года. Одна из его задач заключается в обогащении опыта детей. Он является культурным центром, который помогает детям глубже узнать о жизни их предков в давние времена. Он имеет пять выставочных площадей, каждая из которых представляет конкретную тему, в том числе такие, как "традиционный костюм", "традиционное жилище". Есть открытая игровая площадка. 

В музее проходят выставки один или два раза в год. Дети играют также в традиционные народные игры на открытой площадке. В основании концепции постоянной экспозиции детского музея - корейская народная сказка про тигра и его похождения. Он был выбран неслучайно. В давние времена тигров было так много на корейском полуострове, что Корею называли "землей тигров". Этот зверь - мощный и сильный, его боятся. Но в символическом плане он защищает корейцев от пожара, наводнения, тайфуна, войны и голода. Его образ можно встретить повсюду. В музее дети попадают во владения тигра, где играют, слушают рассказы о нем, учатся любить его.

The exhibitions take place in the museum once or twice a year. Children play traditional folk games outside there. Basic concept of the permanent exhibition in the children's museum is a Korean folk tale about a tiger and its adventures. The choice of this character was not random. In ancient times, there were so many tigers on the Korean peninsula that Korea was called "the land of tigers." This animal is powerful and strong, it scares. But at the same time symbolically it protects Koreans from fire, flood, typhoon, war, famine and pestilence. Its image can be seen everywhere. In the museum children find themselves at the tiger's estate where they play, listen to the stories about it and learn to love it.
